			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Becoming a teenager today is far more problematic than when I was one over 20 years ago.&nbsp; Yes, I know that teenagers still have the same hormonal rushes they used to have and I know that they have the same independence issues with parents &#8211; many things are just the same.&nbsp; They still get to worry over having to wear a brace on their teeth, <a href="http://www.visionwithoutglassesc.com" target="_blank">glasses to see</a> and how much pocket money they get.</p>
<p>What I mean is that the pressure society and the media put them under is far greater than it ever was.&nbsp; With the advent of the internet, social media, mobile phones, Ipods etc. teenagers today are exposed to far more then we ever were and with this comes it&#8217;s own pressures and problems.&nbsp; Twenty years ago we had newspapers and the TV with far fewer channels than we get today.&nbsp; We never had computers and Facebook and Twitter and were considered to be lucky to have a Sony walkman to play cassettes in.</p>
<p>Now, seemingly every child over the age of 10 (or often even younger) has their own mobile phone which appears to be joined to the child by an unbreakable chain.&nbsp; They all not only have access to the internet but they all seem to know how to access it very well.&nbsp; I see children aged 15 and 16 with big <a href="http://www.tattoomenowc.com" target="_blank">permanent tattoos</a>.</p>
<p>The images they are exposed to on a daily basis is mindboggling and much of it totally unsuitable for grown adults to be seeing yet alone children.&nbsp; Keeping your child away from this is hard especially when their school friends may have things that yours do not.&nbsp; As a&nbsp; parent myself I often curse other &#8216;totally irresponsible&#8217; parents for buying their children mobile phones at such an early age &#8211; come on now 20 years ago hardly anyone had one and if someone needed to contact them at school they rang the school offfice and the mesage got through without disrupting the whole class very rudely.</p>
<p>It seems to me that many parents simply do not consider others they just look for the easy option to please themselves and to appease a guilty conscience for not having spent enough quality family time with their children. Buying expensive mobile phones, laptop computers, Ipods and other gadgets are not a substitute for parents giving their kids their time.&nbsp; Quality family time where they go out together, eat together, have holidays together and simply just hang out together is what children and adolescents need more than anything.&nbsp; The gadgets are simply guilt gifts to appease the conscience.</p>
<p>The society we are living in has become more insular, more selfish, less caring towards others and less tolerant.&nbsp; The technological age moving forwards has made us regress as humans and on a human level where we are forgetting how to interact with others, we are caring less for others, we are in fact caring less for ourselves as we become more dependent on external stimuli to amuse and entertain us.</p>
<p>Teenagers today need to learn the importance of simply needing to worry about their <a href="http://www.acnenomorec.com" target="_blank">spots and acne</a>, whether to go out on a Friday night with their friends to watch a new movie or simply to enjoy hanging out with a loved family in a secure home.</p>

<p>Organizational Change is not a quick fix. Training Needs Analysis cross referenced with company goals and possibly succession planning would give you most of what you need to formulate a organizational development strategy.</p>
<p>Now however, the way organizations function and interact have changed. As the world gets smaller through technology our competitive organizations become Cross Cultural, multinational and sometimes virtual. Speed and competency are no longer luxuries, they are crucial! The competition is fast and new products and services are becoming more resourceful , and we must move beyond Keeping Up, we must step up to a higher level .</p>
<p>We are drastically affectedby the Competence or Incompetence of those we work with. Our ability to deal with modern business weighs heavily on our individual mind because when others do not perform, cooperate, or support us, WE are riddled with stress as it is OUR jobs and OUR success that is affected .</p>
<p>The traditional pill for this ailment has been Training without real ties to Organizational Culture . We would send those people out to be &#8220;fixed&#8221; so our lives would be made easier by making them more competent. We identified what required to be fixed with Training Needs Analysis and Organizational Goals.</p>
<p>When we developed their soft skills, we wished them to be Team Players, More Cooperative, Better Service Providers, Better Sales People or Marketers, to instill better leadership or management . We wanted them to be better at their work, to deal with people in an empowering way to achieve even higher loyalty and productivity goals .</p>
<p>So what did we do?</p>
<p>We sent them for training, 2 days here, 2 days there;they got a few ideas here and there &ndash; some learned to give good service and then to manage that service, others learned to be more effective and then to manage others to do the same, most workshops disconnected from the previous and providing knowledge without consideration of the ultimate goal&hellip;.</p>
<p>Is this Really Organizational Development?</p>
<p>&hellip;To develop a cohesive, cooperative, passionate organization that dealt with problems in an progressive and powerful way and moves onward at ultra-competitive speeds. In other words, positive and sustainable organizational change</p>
<p>So how do you arrive at this?</p>
<p>First, there are 7 questions you must ask about your current training and development strategies.</p>
<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; How much of the soft skills learned in training is applied?<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Of those applied, How Sustainable is it?<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Is the key knowledge reinforced through the employee&rsquo;s job?<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Is there a commondenominator in all training where all employees can relate to each other regardless of their department or function?<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Is your current training intimately tied to your organizational vision?<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; For each person who gets training, how many others are positively affected when they return?<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Is the time employees are in training recovered in productivity, creativity or less wastage of resources?</p>
<p>If you are like most organizations in reference to training, the answers to these queries would be less than satisfactory . Here is how most people have answered:</p>
<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Only retain about 20% of material<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Usually lasts for a a few weeks leaving a yield of less than 6% of soft skills applied<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Difficult to get senior people to participate, so reinforcement is nominal<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Multiple methodologies and ideas create a scattered and divided organizational perspective<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Don&rsquo;t know how<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; No particular structure in place to share learning<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Training ROI difficult to calculate</p>
<p>But there is a solution!</p>
<p>First: Start with a foundational vision. This is not a management vision or even an organizational vision. It is a vision how your organization and people can prosper by working together and being more competent &ndash; it is a vision of an ideal working environment, a vision for the people.</p>
<p>Now ask:</p>
<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; What is your ideal working culture ?<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; What are the key barriers preventing this ideal working culture ?<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; What must employees &ldquo;Become&rdquo; in order to overcome these barriers?<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; What rules are in place that are strengthening these barriers?<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; What is everyone complaining about the workplace (other than money)?</p>
<p>By having a clear Big Picture of your company&rsquo;s ideal working environment, it becomes easier to develop a strategy to achieve it. And Training is only one component , the key lies in the Group Dynamics.</p>
<p>So, the next question should be: &#8220;How do you get everybody to have that same vision?&#8221;</p>
<p>The fact is, everyone already has a VERY similar vision, its just not what you wrote on that impressive frame on your wall. They are related to a Better Working Environment Ask around, you will find that the answers are directly related to the emotions of what you and they are NOT GETTING at your work!</p>
<p>So if everyone has the same vision, why can&rsquo;t they achieve it?</p>
<p>&hellip;Because the process gets in the way of the outcome .</p>
<p>Everybody has a different &ldquo;right way&rdquo; to do things which creates frustration, and minimizes the motivation for cooperation.</p>
<p>Second: Get your people using a Common methodology that will help them to be mindful of psychology behind the group dynamics. The consciousness of what is preventing the organization from creating that ideal work environment can be discovered by the Directive Communication&trade; methodology.</p>
<p>Why a common methodology? If the individual can see their affect on the group dynamics , the group can collectively address those effects . And, if there is a common language to encouragingly communicate the various&nbsp; &ldquo;unmentionables&rdquo; that usually get unfavorable reactions, then you are setting a foundation for that ideal environment and that common vision.</p>
<p>What are the benefits a psychology based common training methodology and language?</p>

<p>But how do you get a common methodology into the diverse spectrum of people, objectives , and soft skill competence throughout your organization?&nbsp; And more importantly, how do you get the staff to WANT IT?</p>
<p>Third: Before any training starts, there are 5 integrations that should be set and incorporated into the training system to maximize the full effect of training and creating this ideal work environment that will yield a more passionate organizational culture. These are:</p>

(Can a few of them go for intense training, or at least a 2 day program?)<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Are they located in the same geographical area (Do you need an E-learning platform?)<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Can one or more of your Key Influencers facilitate training with a Blended Learning approach (are they available, can they spend the time?)<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; What is your budget?<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; What current projects or work can the learning and tools be applied to?<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; What is the best way to communicate progress through the incorporated measurement system?<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Which business units will have the fastest implementation (these are next priority)<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; How will you support access to the media library if there are questions?<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; What measures will you incorporate for succession planning and recruitment?</p>
